For the last six years, a group of enthusiastic volunteers have been involved in a week long summer outreach for primary age children and teens around our community. The brain child of the Rev James Hyndman, minister to Trinity Presbyterian Boardmills at the time, this week has gone from strength to strength with our volunteers working with approx 100 children last year.
Trinity Sports Connect runs for children aged 6 – 11 each afternoon Mon -Friday. A busy programme of sports, craft and games is balanced with some sound age appropriate biblical teaching. But when the little ones go home, the team can’t quite relax as the teens evening events are just as busy! They
get to enjoy outings, messy games and plenty of food and fun in between, again with engaging biblical teaching at the centre of everything.
The team of volunteers give a lot of themselves during the week, but the programme also allows for a time of devotions each morning when the different age groups of helpers and leaders can learn from each other and face each day uplifted by the reminder of God’s love for them and for the work they will carry out to His glory.
Over the next few weeks on the run up to TSC 2019 we hope to bring you a bit more insight into what goes on behind the scenes in pulling an event like this together and then a look back to some of the highlights from last year with an insight into what to expect this year.
In the meantime if you know of any children or young people who would love to be involved with this our online registration is already open – and filling up fast! And if you have some spare time that week and would like to help out in anyway please do get in touch. We have to balance our numbers of leaders to children so the more help we have, we hopefully won’t have to turn any children away.
Roll on our 7th year!!
