Last year Andrew Scott left Boardmills to spend a year in Sports Academy George in South Africa, and we were glad to welcome him home again. He kept us posted on the valuable work being done through sport and fellowship in George, and now that he’s back home here’s an update on what he’s going to be involved in next.

In January 2018, I started a new role which is very different to what I did previously in Bombardier. I am now working for Sports Academy George in Northern Ireland (I volunteered with them in South Africa for 2017).

The focus of my role is to raise awareness of the charity through speaking in schools, churches and various organisations across Northern Ireland. Like any charity, I also want to raise support for what we do as I share the vision of the charity for the coming years.

This is both exciting and challenging as I learn new skills and develop skills/abilities that I may already have. However, my assurance is in the knowledge that God is the one who builds his kingdom and I am merely a small instrument as he does this in the townships of George, South Africa.

If you want to know more about Sports Academy don’t hesitate to speak with Andrew, or you can check out their website here
