Raising our children in Christ.

The last 14 or so months have brought us all to some new and incredibly challenging situations and for parents many schedules and routines have been turned totally upside down. Maybe for the first time, parental involvement with schoolwork, across various subjects and to different educational levels, has had to be embraced with the need to facilitate home schooling, and probably there have been many very hard conversations trying to explain to children and young people just what is going on at the moment and why life looks so different.

One area that may also have presented challenges and opportunities to parents is to be more involved in the guidance of their young people in the Christian life. In the “old normal” there may have been a feeling that church-run Children and Youth ministries would take on a lot of the responsibility for this, but the balance has shifted somewhat.

CEF Ireland, recognising this, have organised a virtual conference on Saturday 29th May to help work through how to deal with some of these issues and offers a great resource to help parents understand their significant role in showing their children what it means to have a real connection with Christ in their own homes.

Also for youth leaders, there will be plenty to consider for when we return to our ministries and how we can do this and continue supporting parents in their role as disciple makers. This is a free virtual event, that does require pre-registration, but we would encourage you to consider being involved. CEF Ireland website (www.cefireland/family) will give more details and an option to sign up.
